Fix a rota: remove, correct or move a volunteer

Real rotas need small fixes. Someone claimed the wrong slot. A name is spelt wrong and a number has a digit missing. A volunteer messaged the group to say he can’t make it but never dropped his slot. You can fix all of it yourself, on the board, without phoning anyone.

Open the board for the rota and tap the slot’s row. Its panel slides open with the claim inside; under the claim, Manage this claim gives you three actions.

Move a volunteer to a different slot

Tap Move. Kadim shows the other slots on this rota, each labelled with its rules, so you can see at a glance which ones fit:

If the move isn’t allowed (wrong section, needs a DBS check they don’t have, or the slot is full), Kadim refuses it and nothing changes. The volunteer stays where they were. The old slot opens up again, and the team is nudged to fill it just as if the volunteer had dropped it. If the new slot is at a different time, the volunteer gets one text so they know.

Correct a name

Tap Correct, fix the spelling, and save. Nothing about the placement changes, so no one is texted, and the record just gets truer. You can undo it in one tap.

A volunteer’s number can’t be changed here, on purpose: they proved that number with a code when they claimed, so changing it is theirs to do, not yours. If someone’s number really has changed, ask them to claim with the new one; a self-service way for volunteers to update their own number is on the way.

Remove a volunteer from a slot

Tap Remove. Because this affects a person, Kadim asks you to confirm, and the confirm carries the honest question: Let them know by text?, already ticked. One tap. The slot opens again, the team is nudged to fill it, and the volunteer gets a courtesy line instead of turning up to a slot that is no longer theirs.

If the volunteer’s number has texts stopped, the tick is disabled and Kadim tells you plainly: can’t text (opted out), tell them yourself. Kadim never pretends to have told someone it couldn’t reach.
