Share your DBS status with a second mosque

Some roles, like helping in the madrasa, legally need a valid enhanced DBS. If yours was checked at your home mosque, you don’t need to be re-vetted to help somewhere new: if your certificate is on the DBS Update Service, the second mosque can check it’s current in seconds, with your consent.

How it works

  1. Tap “Claim” on the slot. If the role needs an enhanced DBS the mosque doesn’t have on file for you, the roster tells you plainly and offers “Share my DBS status”. This works even if it’s your very first claim here: the text code you just entered proves it’s you, so the button opens the consent form straight away. (If you ever see “We need to know it’s you” instead, tap Verify my number and enter a fresh code first.)
  2. Type your certificate details: the 12-digit certificate number and the issue date, both printed on the certificate you hold. Nobody else supplies these; nothing is copied from another mosque.
  3. That’s your consent. The mosque immediately checks your status with the Update Service. If your enhanced DBS is current, you’re cleared at this mosque straight away and the slot opens up to you.

What the mosque sees

Only what a status check returns: that your enhanced DBS is current. The mosque records its own entry: your certificate number (stored encrypted), the issue date, the level and the check outcome. Your home mosque’s records are never shared, read or moved. Every check is written to a safeguarding audit log.

Changing your mind

Your consent is yours: you can withdraw it at any time (the option is right there after you clear). Withdrawing stops any future checks by that mosque; it doesn’t undo a check that already happened.

If the check can’t confirm your certificate

Nothing is recorded against you. Speak to your home mosque’s safeguarding contact; certificates not on the Update Service, or lapsed subscriptions, are the usual reasons.
